Girvan prices for overnight

You could also not be trapped for days. I think the OP has all the information needed to decide whether a passage plan that involves a Girvan stop over is reasonable. Your subjective statement that Girvan is grim, is irrelevant.
But with strong SW onshore winds forecast, the fact remains that Girvan would be a poor choice of overnight stop if transiting from upper Clyde to Northern Ireland. Lamlash, Carradale, Campbeltown for example would all be better options IMHO with current forecasts. (Sitting listening to wind whistling through rigging as today's brief respite from the winds seems to have ended.)

Oooh! Touchy.

Friend ended up trapped there. Was never the same man.

In troon for tonight, and I wait out bad weather tomorrow, and on monday then further south.

It's not so bad once you don't have to directly go south. I had lots of fun with 5-7 kts for majority of the way (until I had to go further south and waves built up).

I have not seen the depth restrictions for girvan so I have to pass it up. I am 1,7m, don't fit there. Thanks for mentioning.

But yeah, grim night or not - doesn't matter as long as I am safe there for one night. Unfortunately there isnt much shelter between troon and straenar/portpatrick and that bit can turn into a very long passage quite quickly, if winds are no good. Forecast is unreliable af though.
