Gibb STA 16 winch service

I have a pair of Gibb STA 16 winches fitted to the boat but I seem unable to strip them. I've tried removing the circlip, washer and jaws but cannot see any way of removing the stripper, there isn't a screw down the handle socket. Any ideas for spares?

Have you tried Cliff Mogridge at www.winchservicing.com? Haven't used the firm myself; I intended to have him refurbish my old Gibb winches but a bargain pair of self-tailers happened along instead!

The stripper arm on mine (28 STA) is on an anti-clockwise thread. Use a block of wood against the stripper, and give it a sharp tap with a hammer - should come off with no trouble.
