I've just picked up a couple of Gibb snap-shackles with a cone shaped screw fitting for connecting it to a halyard. Inside the cone is a loose nylon cone shaped pillar which I assume makes some kind of a compression fitting with the halyard.

As Gibb are out of the deck fitting business I cannot find any information on the correct proceedure for making these up.

Would appreciate any knowledge.

1. Put rope through end of shackle.
2. Insert cone into end of rope. (tip end)
3. Rope will protrude beyond end of cone base.
4. Pull up outer sleeve so that rope now collects around cone.
5. Make this as tight as possible. Rope will now appear solid.
6. Cut off surplus rope.
7. Screw shackle together.

NB I have used these cones in the past. They are excellent.
