Interesting article in this mornings "Gaurniad" suggeting that the MoD is preparing to off load a ghost ship of their own on to a Turkish yard for breaking (asbestos, pcbs and all). Apparently they sold two a couple of years ago which finished up on some Indian beach cos the Turkish Govt. said no thanks. Is it me or is there a touch of hypocricy, irony or just plain lunacy here? Just hope we don't get a collision between the inbound and outbound hulks, maybe need a ghost ship separation scheme!

And in another touch of hypocrisy....

Guess which European shipowner is proposing to flout the new EU regulations requiring all tankers to be of the double skin type, and to continue operating elderly single skin tankers in EU waters for many years after they have been outlawed?

Yes, folks, it's the "sorry, we've got no dosh, because we built our last two ships with far too many bells and whistles" Royal Fleet Auxiliary - main and only shareholder - Her Brittanic Majesty's Government!
