Whilst I am not a NB lover I wonder if it is right to segregate NBs into a Ghetto as they have in Caversham Marina. Could this be the first step in a selection process the next step being walling them in like the Nazis did in Warsaw ? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ir demonstrates Flinder's Law (the chap who sorted out deviation on compasses):

"Where two or three steel bars are gathered together in the same orientation, the resultant Gaussian co-efficient will attract similarly constructed bars in direct proportion to the two-dimensional space available until a critical mass is achieved whereby the total length-to-modal-beam ratio is equal to or less than the average number of flowerpots."

Looks like Thames & Kennet marina to me but yes interesting to see them all grouped "out of the way" together like that.

Believe most of them are live aboards, so don't leave the moorings much and quite a community feel to the place.

Might have something to to with the size and length of them? the marina layout for NB's of 6' by up to 70' requires a different or specific layout for pontoons than it does for GRP cruisers for obvious reasons. You can't realy mix them and the berth requirements (size) and access requirements are much different.

Having just sold our cruiser and had our offer accepted on a narrow boat we are going to keep her there and went for a look round yesterday,We kept our Cruiser there for 2 and a half years and yet the marina looks very different from the new vantage point.
Seemed to be lots of spaces there ,Sign of the current times??.
Looking forward to bringing our new toy to her new home if everything goes to plan Steve.
