Nudged the tip of a wooden finger pontoon last time - windier than I thought.

So now I have a scuff mark on the hull from the wood.

What is the best way to get rid of it?

I use Magic Eraser from Robert Dyas - no chemicals, just wet and squeeze the surplus water out. There are similar cleaning sponge products in Aldi sometimes and some supermarkers do own brand. There's a boatie version called Erasure (?) but they are all the same melamine sponge. Brilliant at removing scuffs.

3m Finesse-It. If it's only a small area just rub/buff by hand... even a towel will do.

The reason I suggest the above is because it will leave the gelcoat with a shine, the magic eraser sponge will take shine/any polish away

+1.

As alt says though, a bit of wax after won't hurt.

If that doesn't work then a fine cutting compound with a lambswool twirly thing.

Magic Eraser did not work but it is a very good cleaning product, the steering wheel of the car looks like brand new!

I'll try the colour cut next.

If none of the above works, 2000grit wet and dry, use very wet with a drop (literally 1-2 drops) of fairy or other washup liquid) wrapped around a sanding block, rub gently, but then you will need to gently polish with a gentle cutting compound and then you will DEFINITELY need to apply 2 or 3 coats of wax as there will be none left at all. If that doesn't work - it's a proper gelcoat repair i'm afraid.

You are right, ontheplane.

I used farecla g3 scratch remover. It is less obvious now but you can still see it if you look for it

The magic eraser did a great job on cleaning the vinyl on the cockpit seats.
