And then?

- Leave your hydrobike on the mooring?
- Tow it behind your yacht?
- Hoist it on the davits, with your bow 3ft out the water?
- Park it in the garage of your luxury 60ft stinkpot?
- Circle your yacht futily wondering what to do next?

And..

.. get pelted with overripe fruit by your fellow mooring holders as you pass them. If you're lucky.

Err, I take it you are a motorboat driver? You might be better asking your question on the motorboat drivers forum.

Er, thought this forum was for ALL. I'm a motorboater (now I've been laid low by several strokes) and much prefer it to Boat Chat because of it's nature of helpfullness but I use both. Less of the elitism would go down better thank you.

Re: And then?

I thought you were joking! I guess you might risk it for a few hours, but certainly not overnight. Even the humblest tender is prone to be "borrowed", which is why those left on moorings tend to be so decrepid. A hydrobike would certainly not be treated with respect, and a chain is no protection at all.

Ask your insurers what they think.

You're thinking of investing a few thousand pounds in a method of getting to your mooring which has zero cargo-carrying capicity, won't take kindly to being left afloat and is far more likely to be stolen.

Please explain why?

the cargo carrying is the issue. It would be fun and a change to cycle out. There is some carrying capacity on the platforms, but a design adaptation could improve the situation for that. There isnt room for others on the bike. Perhaps you would then bring the boat to the pontoon to pick up others and provisions. It would be situationally selected.

Why is it "elitist" that I don't like motorboat drivers? I also don't much like people who ride loud motorbikes, or who smoke in pubs making all my clothes stink, or who gob their chewing gum everywhere, or who fart on the tube etc etc. They all just come into the category of people one has to tolerate. It doesn't make me "eilitist" because I don't share their particular tastes and habits.
