Getting lugs on battery cables

Here's a short version of the method I used. Fairly self explanatory, but might need watching a few times. I coated the bare strands with electrical lube before putting the terminal on. Works without having bell ends :)

How To Keep cable Strands Together While Crimping Lugs

That’s how I have been doing mine in winter rewire. I have a manual crimping tool though. I find the 50mm setting on 50mm cables doesn’t give a tight enough crimp so I use the 35mm setting.

I suppose you really do need a full 35mm? Depending on cable type and length, that might suggest 100A+. If not, I wouldn't be above cutting out just a few strands. If you do this though, ensuring a good connection to the lug is vital.

depends on how long the cable run is amongst other things. I rewired mine in 35mm2 from charger to batteries and now get the batteries fully charged. That was not the case before
