I haven't posted for a while but my boat search was ongoing and is finally coming to an end.
I have bought a boat! It is my first boat and I am getting quite excited at the thought that it should hopefully be with me soon!
It is a 1987 Trapper 501 with bilge keels. It ticks all my boxes as a family cruiser and has a newish (reconditioned 2011) engine. I have joined Troon Cruising Club and have secured a swinging mooring which partly dries out hence the need for a bilge keeler. The mooring is quite economical and there is a wealth of experience and help on hand within the Club.
The only slight problem is the boat is in Wales (Neyland near Milford Haven).
I had organised a delivery skipper to sail the boat up to Troon but am having difficulty contacting him recently by phone/text/email. There was a fault that required rectifying but have now had this dealt with. Perhaps he is on an ocean crossing or similar venture. However if he doesn't get back to me soon I will have to consider other options.
Is anyone able to recommend a company or person who would be interested in delivering my boat for a reasonable fee if the original guy doesn't come back to me?

Yes Pete thanks, I would appreciate that if you could. I will give the original guy a bit of time to re-establish contact first, but I have sent several messages over past 5 days and zip in return.
 
Troon Cruising Club is a great club. You will have a lot of fun - especially if you partake in the Wednesday night "wacky races".

I've just seen someone's photo of a bit of Troon - it was in a different place and on a different subject so I won't link to it - anyway the point is that it showed a few boats on fore and aft buoys.

I think that there may be a variety of berthing arrangements in the TCC - long term membership probably promotes you to easier access.

There a few TCC members on this forum.

Great news! Glad you managed to sort out the final survey issue, and finalise the purchase.

Look forward to seeing to seeing you in Troon later in April........
 
TCC moorings are all fore-and-aft (except the island pontoon) but the trot nearest the clubhouse dries at low tide.
Welcome, and have you asked around the club for someone to give you a hand bringing it back?

Hi, thanks for reply. I'm a novice myself and as a newbie at the club I wouldn't want to ask for that level of help! I had a delivery skipper arranged but I am unable to get a hold of him this week so I'm not sure whether that's going ahead or not. I may have to pay someone else to deliver it, PeteCooper has suggested someone. Or might have to arrange lorry transport.

I just want it sooner rather than later!
 
Congratulations on your purchase Robert, hope you have some wonderful times on her.
A friend had a Trapper 300 and it appeared to be a good boat, and fast, I could only ever get a glimpse of its transom during the Clyde scuttlebutt cruises:)
What part of Glasgow are u based? you cam pm me with the answer if you dont want to publicise it.

This might just be the pic Ash mentioned. The drying moorings are out of shot to the right, but look just like the ones you can see in the pic - when the tide is in!
