Having a river trial and survey done on Wednesday. It's been difficult getting the river trial due to the ice, so killing two birds with one stone so to speak.

I have spent thousands on equipment and extras online... Thankfully all in my head and not in real life.... LOL

Weird feeling.. wanting to get excited, but holding back just in case...

We are being very sensible. Mooring sorted (well provisionally reserved). Insurance quote obtained. Next is the license.... :)

Harleyford Marina, please. LL are the chandlery (sniff)

Probably Linden Lewis Marine at Shepperton, who did our lift when we bought our current boat. Hmmm, and the subsequent works, now I think about it. And it was indeed several thousand... but all needed and done well!

Sorry yes, shepperton. Escaped with a cheap pair of deck shoes, holding tank treatment and a scrubby pad. Now on way to Bray for river trial. All exciting stuff.. :)

Silly me,
Didn't stop to think - well one doesn't one when on the computer??
Boat's at Bray, chandlery at Shepperton. 'twas the word "marina" that fooled me; assume boat was miraculously there....

River trial went ok. Just a couple of things that will probably be highlighted in the survey tomorrow.
I have discovered I cannot wear my contact lenses when in charge of steering. Can't focus enough ahead to keep in a straight line. Glasses better. So if you see us zig zagging down the Thames in a few week I forgot my glasses. :D

Great news! Glad it all went ok. Don't worry about the steering, it will get easier as you become more relaxed. Some boaters do tend to get very relaxed though....

If you guys are around on Saturday, Bray Cruiser Club will be in the clubhouse (just down from Bray Boat Sales) to discuss the upcoming cruises. I understand the bar will be open, and soft drinks are available!

If I were you I'd be getting excited!!

Getting a boat on the river was one of the best things we've ever done...

(despite what some people may tell you)

Shepperton marina very nice , have many friends moored there and happy. Linden Lewis rent premises there and have nothing to do with lift out or mooring. Linden Lewis and their services I am advised by said friends would be 'caveat emptor' my single experience of them would confirm this and I go elsewhere for technical services.

Wait till we start mooring up.. Definately need to practise that with someone from Bisham to teach us. ;)

Is it OK to just turn up on Saturday? Is it a meeting or a get together to chat about future cruises? Don't want to be in the way so to speak. It's 8pm isn't it? :)

I am very excited and a little terrified... :D

I want to act like a complete child in excitement getting the best pressie, but the adult in me paying out this amount of cash wants it to go smoothly in a businesslike manner, so trying to remain calm and sensible...

Woohoo!!!! We are getting a boat!!!!!! :D :D :D :D  See....

It's perfectly fine to just turn up, I think it's on the event planner as cruise planning meeting but it is not a committee meeting (I know this cos I am on the committee).

We are one of the more informal clubs on the Thames, so you will not need to dress up and salute or anything of that sort. :)

Toying with the idea -
Would it be possible for a total outsider with a WSOB to turn up.
We're tucked away by the ablutions block for the winter and 'twould be nice to see how River clubs work?
