About fifteen years ago I presented a TV show called Getting Afloat. The master tapes have been stored carefully away, but before they fade I thought I would have them transferred to DVD. I hope to upload all fifteen episodes, plus the original trailer for Discovery Home and Leisure.
We had great fun making them, Mike Custance was the Director, Stuart Elliott was camera man (Wartime Farm and Full Steam Ahead producer) editor, and musician, Vanessa Bird was Associate Producer, Evelyn Collins was assisting, and finally the late Tessa the dog.
I hope you enjoy them. More uploads tomorrow.

Well I enjoyed it and I am a GRP Moboist! Look forward to seeing more.
I don't know if it was my connection, but I experienced quite a lapse between sound and picture.

I like these too :) Pity they're only 480p, any chance of getting them in HD or is this the limit of the original recordings?
Hi Graham, These recordings come from first generation copies on VHS, taken from the original master tapes 15 years ago. To my knowledge these are the only tapes in existence. I have had them professionally copied from VHS to DVD, and am uploading them from my laptop. Whether one could get better copies from the tapes or not I don't know. We did try a few years ago and the results were poor. To be honest I was very pleased with how these came out, especially as the tapes have been sitting in a box under the stairs for many years!!
I presume you are watching on a large screen? Try a small laptop or phone, it looks pretty good
on those!!
Cheers, Nick.

Ah OK. I agree about the screen size the films do look fine in a smaller format. I was watching full screen on my telly. I'd guess if these are on VHS they're as good as they'll ever get, but I'm no expert. Great to see them anyway, so thanks for uploading :)

Great films, many thanks for making them available.
The Classic Boat forum doesn't get anything like the viewing that YM Scuttlebutt and PBO forums get, and I think you are being a little unfair in not letting that lot know about the films.

Hi Mataji,

I not sure if you know, but I have posted links on YBW Classics and YBW PBO forum. I have also posted on Classic Boat Magazines own forum too. Do feel free to link the show anywhere you please!

Rgds,

Rgds,
I've looked at one of the films, and it was enjoyable. Do you make any money from the number of hits on YouTube?
Are there any rules about how many times you can spam the various forums with essentially the same message?

Hi Mataji, No, I dont make any money. I don't know if there are any rules for posting links. I am posting these because I made them 15 years ago, I enjoyed making them, and most enjoy watching them. Apart from your post, the feedback has been positive! I am doing one upload per evening, as it takes one evening to do each one.
Rgds,
Nick
