Getting a tow in Guernsey or Jersey

The "commercial tow" being referenced, wasn't actually commercial. The tug was a coastguard SAR asset that was tasked together with the RNLI boat and in the same way. This additional asset was tasked mainly due to the size and weight of the casualty (20m trawler 100+ ton) and the poor weather conditions.

If you need assistance in the Channel Islands, it will work exactly the same as the rest of the UK. Jersey or Guernsey CG will coordinate depending who's waters you're in, they may put out an all ships call, request an RNLI vessel or in the near future Jersey CG may even have an independent to call upon.

The only time I've heard of a 'tow being a commercial tow' is when a marina tows a boat within its marina to prevent it from sinking. This is instead of claiming salvage. Clarity on this legal point would be interesting.
