Just had a call from a mate of mine who was in St Peter Port last week. He was planning to go to Cherbourg, and we had a chat about Dielette (haven't been there since the marina was built). So Sunday he goes there.

He's now been trapped 3 days by breaking swells at the entrance 3-4m and wondering when he can get out. Looks like W'lies for rest of week and strong winds Friday, so any advice as I fear he will blame me for this!

Nope, he\'s stuck

But, what a great place to be stuck in!

Tell him he's a lucky sod.

There are worse places to get stuck. If he has already walked the lovely lanes of Cap Flammanville and done the Chateau, you could suggest a tour of the nuclear power station. They have a "visitor's" centre" so I presume they give tours, it was closed for building work last year but should be open again by now.

Thanks Oldhand and all.

I called him, told him he was a lucky bugger, and that I'd always wanted to spend a few days there strolling the lanes of Cap Flammanville, visiting the chateau and going to the fascinating power station...

His reply was frosty. Apparently his SWMBO was getting sea-sick in the cockpit, and the winds are forecast to go NWly tomorrow - blowing straight into the harbour. Ah well, you can't please everybody!
