good afternoon,
a friend had some issues with his GEONAV 11C (that at the end turned out to be vertigris on the power cable with screen flashing in and out) Today I swapped cables with a spare he had, plotter is fine working on my bench power for 5h, so call that fixed.
Problem is that he thought his problems had to do with the GPS mushroom (don't ask why, dunno!) so went up the arch of his 80s P45 and tried to remove it. In doing so, thought the plug was a screwed on to the other side (which is push and twist...) so he royally fcked up the 7pin plug/socket combo.
Now, checking on the online manual, I see that the gps mushroom is a NMEA0183 one, so needs V+ GND and the NMEA+ and - out. Easy solution is to cut both sides, identify the cables and fit a 4 pin waterproof combo up there.
Haven't seen the full mess, mate says the arch side connector is fine, the one I've got here has half the pins broken off (and pretty sure nicely stuck on the other side...), so my Q is:
can anyone point at where I can source a male 7pin plug I could solder onto the short cable coming out of the gps mushroom?
The quote for a new gps antenna here in Greece was 230euro or something like that.
Unless I get a cheap plug, I plan to simply cut the plug, identify the 4 cables and fit the mushroom under the f/b dash next to the plotter hooking it up to the main power/nmea cable of the plotter ignoring the extension to the f/b arch.
cheers
