Subject: Genoas and spray hoods

When I bought my Finesse 24 she only came with a working jib and a cruising chute.(she is sloop rigged) I would really like a Genoa for her but need some dimensions to get an estimate prior to having it made. Could anybody give me some dimensions for the luff, foot and leech of their genoa? The sails on my boat are hanked on by the way.

The other thing is the curse of the non watertight cockpit. As I am fed up with scraping the rust off my long suffering engine, I decided to get a cockpit cover made. There is a local cutter rigged Finesse which has a spray hood fitted with a zip on cover for the cockpit. It looks very good. Sadly the firm who made this cover (Martello Yacht services) no longer seem to exist. On approaching another firm to make one up, I was quoted over £1000.00 to reproduce it! Any body had
any experience of a firm who would be able to make this at a
reasonable price? I am based in Kent

Many thanks

Mike

We had a thread recently on a very similar theme, but for Hoilung's folkboat. See "Sprayhood / Cockpit Cover" started by Hoilung on 23/03/05.

I can recommend Nick Mussett very highly, both for value and quality, but West Mersea isn't much use to you.

We had a Finesse 24' (Kilter) before our current Golden Hind. She was a wonderful boat, cutter rigged with a bowspit. We didn't have a sprayhood, but had a PVC cover for the cockpit only.
