The genny on my chums F36 in Bray died in a puff of smoke and has poss. gone to generator heaven. The unit was removed from boat and needs to go to a mender.Wants to try to get it fixed,as scary quotes for new,any suggestions,he will deliver if required,

I had my Bosch starter overhauled by

Autronic Services Ltd

They also do generators.

No complaints a year later, and the price was reasonable.

Adverc (the charging controller people) do alternator repairs, and they will add a field wire (poss: for nothing) at the same time. They've been very helpful to me - so I have confidence in them.

Do a Google for their contact details. The lady on the front desk is very knowledgeable.

"Vehicleelectrics" - to be found on eBay, send them an enquiry - have been helpful to me and are helpful. Search on "Marine alternator"

Sometimes it's easier to bung the item in the post than to rush around looking for a competent repairer.

Second Vote for Adverc, good company to deal with.

They will be at the show in January if you want to talk face to face.

Thnx for all replies.
The boat was fitted out for use in the Med ie aircon etc,and was fitted with a
ZEISE Benjimen ? Multipower about 3 KW.Believed to be of German origin.

Everyone - including me - erroneously assumed you meant "alternator", so you must thing we're a lot of wallies.

I apologise for myself....

A complete generator package is a different kettle of fish even thought it's an alternator driven by an engine plus a control box.

I don't have any experience of these, though I do recognise the name Zeise.

In default of any better help, might it be worth calling Adrian at Beta - they do manufacture small units (bigger than your chum's), and may have contacts for repairs??

Seem to be several long thin tin boats equipped with them (do a Google) so there must be someone selling them over here.

Have you looked on the German website?

The engines are made by Faryman is it the engine or the generator part?
