Generator capacity in real-world use

Anyway, I appreciate all the info and help from everyone, after all this it seems we've fallen out with the vendors on inclusion of the tender - boat was presented with the tender but now they want an additional e14-15k for it to be included in the deal. It was a fairly ratty Williams 325 that I noted they didn't flush when we put it back in the garage on the test drive and would have needed a serious service and probably new tubes. This was a private sale so I was dealing direct with the vendor and their agent and didn't have a broker to bat for my side. Bit silly falling out over what is probably only 4% of the mothership's value but the vendor seems not that motivated to come to a deal and sell.

Was the tender included in the particulars of the boat? If it wasn't then I believe the general rule is that you shouldn't assume it is included in the sale price. Saying that, it's always better if the advert says "Tender not included" to avoid confusion. Also, when making an offer you should explicitly state what you expect to be included in the sale (e.g. tender, navigation cards, epirbs, safety gear).

If it’s a private sale from a Frenchman ( no brokerage I understand ? )
Then everything’s up for negotiation.

If you have chipped him down hard and he sees your blood donor card he will want 2 pints of that too .:)

Then in my experience at some point start a conversation on method of payment .
If it’s possible dangle the carrot of part payment in cash .

Suddenly he,s your new best mate .:encouragement:

If you really want it and are not prepared to budge on price offer that option and see what % he comes up with .

Doesn’t solve the geny issue if there is one though ?
For that return to the boat start the geny switch on the Aircon ,then start one by one turning other ( @anchor stuff ) on .
Charger (s)
Hob
Kettle
Hairdryer
Etc etc

Listen for the “ CLICK “

Correct. Getting o/t a fair bit here but the story is we met a broker that showed us a Sunseeker earlier in the year which we liked but mentioned we were holding out for a V56 ideally. The broker knew of a V56 owner who was looking to upgrade maybe next year, and put us all in touch. So this was an unadvertised private sale, no sales sheet or particulars, and indeed everything was very much up for negotiation. As this was the only V56 we could find in the western-Med (all others for sale being in Greece or Turkey), we basically let him name his price but even then he never quite seemed motivated or keen to sell. Other than the quirky generator it was a great specced boat, recent nav updates, D13-900s, tidy overall, blue hull, and ticked a lot of our boxes. In retrospect we think the vendor wasn't quite ready to sell and the the broker was probably just trying to see if an offer in-hand was enough to persuade him.

Alas, we're moving on. I head back to Nice this evening and we'll pick the search back up when I arrive. Although the SWMBO has got tickets for the Cannes show to cheer me up, so we'll see if some glistening brand new dealer-presented GRP tempts us more than 8 year old private-sale stuff!

Cheers
