Regrettably I was confined to 'port' over the bank holiday weekend to paint the exterior of the house. As I contemplated the peeling paint on the fascias and soffits I realised that the time had come to replace/cover them with uPVC. I need to do the job myself so that I will feel less guilty at spending money on yottie goodies and this got me thinking. You can usually rely on members of this forum to come up with good advice on boat-related DIY. But do any members know of a useful forum for general DIY topics? So far Google hasn't produced the goods.

Why dont you just ask us lot. We are in all sorts of trades besides having a boat.
Now it just happens that I know a little bit about plastic windows. Not alot though so others will put you right, or there again mabe wrong.
Go find a little guy who makes plastic windows. Theres loads of them. Not the ones with adverts on the telly. About £300 a window, depends how big. Usualy they will fit them for very little or all part of the price. Then look up Plastic supplies for soffits. Not always the same industrie as windows. Firm round us is called GAP. There will be others round your neck of the woods. Need some foam in a can to fit the windows. Now what else do you need to know!!

No one can force me to come here-----------

Small local place to us in Kent does the stuff in dozens of sizes and in quite a few colours. I suspect their is one near you. Have a ring around, from memory I think the facia board was around £23ish + VAT for a 3 metre length. My neighbour did his whole place (3 bed semi) for about £ 250ish including gutters. Mine needs doing but the boat and the TR come first!.
PM me and I'll see if I can turn out some details, Exchange and Mart very often has info.
