Buy the no mix stuff straight out of the tube, clean up the scratch do a little light scraping of the surface to make sure its clean using acetone. When the Acetone has evaporated fill the gap with filler, not too much or you will be sanding for ages after. using a flat piece of plastic go ver the scratch pushing in the filler to cover the whole area and wiping the excess away. After this cover it with tape the type you use for masking when antifouling and leave to set.

When dry come back to it carefully remove the tape and using different grades of wet and dry coarser first less coarse last sand away the excess. Best done by hand until the scratch is blended with the grp. Use a cutting compound with wax is best after to finish off.

MYLAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After cleaning, sanding and filling the scratch with new gelcoat, tape a piece of mylar foil over it. After 30 min of curing, remove the foil. Tadaa: instant smoothness.
The foil leaves a smooth finish, and prevents sagging.

BTW I believe the english term is 'mylar' . In dutch it's 'hostafaan-folie', in french 'hostaphane'.
