Gel coat staining

I have a stain on the transom which goes right through the gelcoat. Is it possible to paint over? If so with what? I've tried everything else - rubbing compound etc..

What sort of staining? I found oxalic acid shift just about everthing.

Have you tried Y10 / oxalic acid on it ?

No I haven't but it's definitely not surface staining

I had a similar stain, been there for several years tried just about every thing in the chandlers, nothing would remove it, then one day I tried what I call miracle sponges 4 for a pound in cheapo shops 2 for a pound in Tesco's, whetted the sponge with fresh water and rubbed stain for a minute or so, stain disappeared.
Worth a try on your stain.

If all else fails cut it out and do a gelcoat repair. It will be more permenant than painting
