Fraid the saga of the boat continues.

Sealine have finally replaced the canopy on the boat...third attempt....and it finally seems to have stopped leaking rain water over and into the cockpit. (before anyone says you can expect some water I am talking pouring in)

With this third attempt they have had to move the fittings for the studs on the side of the arch.
so i now have about 16 old holes that need filling/repairing/hiding.

Is this acceptable on a new boat?
I am told i will not see the repairs but i am thinking about a few years time when i sell her.
will the repairs stand the test of time?

i would'nt accept it on a new boat no way!!!
it may make it diffucult when re-selling a lot of questions will be asked why it is like that.

I would think they will be fine. I wouldn't be surprised if many new boats get gelcoat repairs before they are even handed to the customer. Final fit out, delivery and commisioning will see the odd knock or scratch.

If this is your first boat then don't worry; I am afraid this is normal. Different standards apply in the boat industry. They'll tell you it's because they are hand made but why can't they hand make boats properly? It's also interesting that boats tested by the mags never display the faults thet we as new owners experience without fail.

Doug,
We had some gel repairs on the last boat and and an experienced bod can get a good colour match and leave an finish where the repair is virtually invisible.

the gelcoat repairing epics are usually when the gelcoat is years old. Gel coat ages at different rates. If the gelcoat is new, and can be matched ex-factory, then the match and ageing will be very good.

So, don't worry about it. If you had an old boat, different story
