My boat had the old Rutgerson hatches replaced with Gebos by the builders under warranty when the acrylic panels parted from the SS frames, under warranty in 2001.

Since then we have had to progresively araldite the outside handles back onto the external stubs as each of the 18 has come off.

We have been lucky in that the detached handles have been found on deck in all but two cases. However, unlike other manufacturers, Gebo don't sell the outside handle separately and you have to buy the complete inside/outside set. (Goiot, Lewmar and Rutgersen sell each part individually)

Has anyone esle had this experience? If so, how about a united front approaching Gebo to supply the replacement parts?

Yes - I've had that problem!

Knocked one with my foot whilst wrestling the genoa one day - I watched helplessly as it bounced over the side, never to be seen again...

I bought a complete handle kit, as you say, because they don't sell those bits seperately. I'll willingly add my name to a list of those who would like them to do so in future.

Cheers, Jerry

Majority of mine held on with araldite, but living with a couple missing. Strange how you think you are the only one it happens to. Must be a weakness if many more have this problem. I will add my name to an approach.

Yes - all 4 on my Bav have come adrift. I have used super glue which is quite effective.

Perhaps it is more effective to sikaflex it back. And attach a lanyard to it as well ;-)
Lost some as well. Should start harrassing Gebo to make the available as a consumable rather than a spare part.

The external handles on Gebo hatches are rubbish build quality. There must be thousands lying around on the seabed, and Gebo don't sell them as separate items. An entire new handle costs £80!!
