Does anybody have any source for exterior handles for Gebo hatches? They are of supremely crappy build quality and just clip on so are always getting lost. I've experimented with lots of different glues but they seem to be built out of unglueable plastic. Whoever designed them deserves a pat on the back for developing a steady cash-flow for Gebo of people who have lost theirs.

I need to know this too, or alternatively the make and model of a hatch that is an exact fit for the Gebo hole...

They're DESIGNED to break off in your hands!
The trick is not to be hamfisted with them- if they even slightly flex under pressure you can be assured that the hatch is dogged tight, so don't force the issue. They won't open even with another type of handle. But that means your boat is still secure! Another brand of hatch opens quite easily with gentle persuasion from the ball of your heel. [easy opening= quick 'n easy exit route for your goodies, especially on lonely marinas...]
Replacement outer parts are available, but yes, they do cost money!

I have gone around gluing mine back on with some success using epoxy two pack but taking care to roughen up the surfaces first, making a route for the air to escape (otherwise they just pop off before the glue has cured) and ensuring that the glue doesn't get onto the perspex. I bought some to replace the inevitable couple over the side as well as a few of the hinge end caps which also seem to jump ship from time to time at one of the chandlers here in Gouvia Corfu. The new handles now sold, I notice, have a central retaining ss self-tapping screw as a modification.

Seateach chandlery at Emsworth, Hampshire have a range of Lewmar and other hatches, Gebo have come up before and I think they do them.

Just be really specific and questioning about sizes and bolt spacing, not their strong point !

Thanks - they do look like the correct component.

However, as the local boat show is within a couple of weeks, i might just go there, walk up to the Gebo stand, and rip off a couple of their crappy exterior handles from their exhibition hatches. If one of their marketing-wallahs complains, I will just point out that they can hardly expect their handles to stay in place in a heavy sea if they don't stay in place in the benign environment of a boat show. Gebo should distribute these useless POS's free at boat shows.
