I have a Volvo MD 2040 with the MS15A-A gearbox, the combination has now completed a total of 1400 hours running over a 12year period. Two years the gearbox started being reluctant to engage forward gear, especially after reversing whilst there was still some spin of the prop shaft. It often took a couple of attempts at putting the leaver into forward before the gears engaged. The problem did not really occur when the system was really warmed up. I adjusted the gear cable linkage and have had two seasons without problem. Just recently the problem has started to reoccur and there is little or no adjustment left on the Bowden cable at the gear box end or on the cockpit gear selector end. Has anyone experienced similar problems? Am I looking at having to have a new gearbox? Many thanks.
