Does anyone have experience of these devices ?

I dismantled the first of my two yesterday expecting to need service kits, but the delrin bushes are in sound order with hardly any wear. So re-use or replace ?

The service kits are easily available so would add ~£70 to my growing list of parts this Winter's underwater refit will be needing that SWMBO doesn't need to know about !

When similar bearings wore on my ambassador they told me that the cutter was too worn & I needed a new one. At the time the cost was £525-00.
Needless to say, I declined & turned up my own bearings for a few £'s & a bit of experimentation. After 6 years i have found that RG1000 is a good bearing material (V cheap) & last year I decided to make my own rope cutter, copy of the original complete.
When the boat was hauled last month I was pleased to see that all was well. The new cutter complete cost me £ 70-00 in material & tooling, plus my time. Well worth the effort to save the current cost of £585-00. It worked well when I hooked a line 30 miles off Le Havre & a net just off Flushing.
I am thinking of making 3-4 for sale if I get the time

If anyone has one - or the Gator & is near Bradwell & want drop in & see me I am sure that i could make a set of bearings for them less than the advertised ones if I had the cutter to work to.
