To all those of you who supported us so warmly during the bleak period of time when we were hopeful of finding David alive, I want to remind you that David's family and close friends will be at the Southampton Boat Show on Sunday September 23rd (actually David's 54th birthday) at the Guinness (or drinks?) stand at around 1:00pm. We'd love to meet you all there and together we can raise a glass in memory of David.

All the very best,
Barbara

I have yet to decide if I'm going to SBS. If I don't go, I will be raising a glass to David at 1pm on 23rd.

Barbara,

Sadly a lot of the East coast section are all together that weekend, out on the water on the east coast....

But i'll suggest a glass be raised by all present.....

Booked myself a plane ticket today, flying to high latitudes next week, and I am looking forward to meeting David's family and friends on the last day of the show at 1300 hrs.

I have had the honour and pleasure of corresponding with various members of his family when we were all 'looking' for him, and continuing to keep in touch after Colros was eventually 'found' (sadly without her skipper), and I shall enjoying raising a glass of the black stuff with them to say salut to David.

For those of you who didn't see the original posts 6 months ago, David was lost at sea off Portugal in January while living his dream - a dream of going off on singlehanded sailabout and seeing the world with his exceptionally well found wee steel yacht Colros.

I never met him, yet I feel like I know him quite well now - he was an amazing chap, modest to a tee, a superb boatbuilder and sailor, fiercely independent and corinthian all the way - a bit like Blondie Hasler and Bernard Moitessier in many ways really, both of whom he had the greatest respect for.

If any YBW'ers are attending the Boat Show on the second Sunday, I hope you will wander along and join us in raising a glass in his memory.
