Has anyone successfully fitted gas struts to assist in lowering and lifting a radar arch, I would like to do this on my old Broom, my arch is tubular stainless.
Do I need a simple car type gas strut or a traction type?

Contact british gas springs with the dimensions and weight of mast in horizontal position and they will supply the right thing for the job, don't fit anything other than stainless steel, have fitted loads of these.
