Without asking for lots of folk quoting corgi or giving dire warnings about diy tampering, I am interested in advice about liquid gaskets for gas stoves.
The switch on my grill on the oven and 2 burner stove aboard, has leaked necessitating it be sealed off for the last season.
I intend to dismantle the section but am unsue as to how to seal the parts again once dismantled. The shop that I use says that it is straightforward; having initially said "just bring it in", but the boat is in France at present, warm and cosy with heater and de humidifier on. Any clues as to the correct liquid gasket to use?

Calortite is good stuff for sealing joints. However I am not sure what you mean by the term "switch". If it is a leaky valve, best replace. Alternatively dis-assemble, grease with waterproof grease, and re-asemble, making sure valve is tight. f you go DIY, test carefully with soapy water after fix, and also a week or two later!

If it is a leaky valve, and you decide to re-grease it, you should use the correct stuff, which (believe it or not) is called cock grease /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Do a Google search on it at your peril! BES do it, half way down this page, but you should be able to get it from your local plumber's merchant.

Don't apply too much, or bits break off and end up blocking the jets (or the filter gauzes inside the jets /pedant).
