A few months ago there was a helpful exchange about a replacement gas spring, including a supplier's name, force ratings, prices etc.
I've searched without success, can anyone give me a link please?
Thanks!

I bought one from http://www.strutsdirect.co.uk at a fraction of the cost of a Selden replacement. Someone else in the marina suggested their name and said I shouldn't bother with the all stainless model. The original had a stainless rod with steel body and the replacement didn't have a stainless rod.

Unfortunately, it failed within a couple of months and I was in France or Spain by then so couldn't return it for a warranty claim. It wasn't worth the cost and I left it for a whole year until a friend was driving out to Galicia and offered to bring one back. I replaced it with an all stainless model and Struts direct gave me a decent discount due to the failure of the earlier (very cheap) model. I don't think the failure was due to the steel rod as there were no signs of corrosion. I think I was just unlucky to get a dud. Pretty certain I'd have had a replacement with no trouble if I'd still been in the UK.

Still, they were pretty fair with me and I'd suggest trying their website. You can measure your existing unit and if lucky, might find markings on the side stating number of Newtons.

I bought 2 from SGS Derby. Good next day service.

I uprated mine as the strut kicker is working extra hard with a heavier fully battened mainsail.

I had 2 struts inside a sparcraft kicker.

Need the length compressed and extended and the ends. I made the mistake of getting 10mm holes in end instead of the correct 8mm but thyey sent out the correct 8mm ends FOC.

has anyone fitted a gas spring to a rod kicker that didnt previously have one? I believe it can be done but I dont know whether you need extra parts to connect the gas strut to.
