Gas Problems

Fitted a gas locker last year with 4006 regulator, bubble tester etc. The installation got a gas certificate. Just recently the gas at the stove has been getting lower and lower flame. Changing to a new Calor bottle doesn't help.

On the floor of the gas locker, under the regulator, is a orange coloured sticky gritty goo, as though it had come out of the vent nozzle. Any one got any idea what this goo is? I suspect, but hope not, that it has got into the pipework and blocked it, or has damaged the regulator.

Will need to pull the system apart but would like to know what to expect before I start.

Change the regulator for a start and see if the stove is working properly again but check the orange pipe in the locker for any kind of damage.

gasboat regulators from last year had a manufacturing defect that caused them to slowly reduce the pressure. talk to gasboat to get a warranty replacement. there is a workaround if you're stuck (involving a 4mm allen key) but its a temporary fix - best to get it sorted properly.

That looks as though it could be the answer. Earlier this year I thought it was because of the really cold weather not vaporising the gas. Now to find the receipt from SOCAL!

Is there any documentation anywhere about this? I've searched and can't find any details.

Any chance of work around details so that I can show it is the regulator?

What excellent service! Contacted manufacturer by email on Saturday, replacement regulator received today. Original returned.

Now to fit new one and can now have coffee breaks while working on the boat.

My 4006 regulator stopped working last week. Spoke to Gasboat who advised using the 4mm allen key, but I got the impression that this was actually the fix rather than a workaround (ie regulators were set wrong, but the anticlockwise turn with the allen key gave the correct setting). Is this not the case?

Others have said this "fix" fails eventually. I am told that "adjustment of the inlet only increases the lock up pressure, output pressure is only controlled by the spring tension on the diaphragm. "

To be honest I,m not happy about tweaking a gas regualtor, nor removing the filter that is in the input.

New regulator in, gas back to normal. Kettle boils in next to no time now.
