I have bought a portable gas heater 1.5 kw. It uses cartages; it is catalytic with oxygen dipletion devise, and flame fail and tilt shut off devise; cost £90; the cartages cost £1.10 each and will last for 1.5 ~ 2 hours. Produses a lot of heat for the size of the heater. Apparently, lorry drivers use them a lot. So far, i am happy with it. Any experience with these heaters?
 
I think you might find a little flak incoming.

I'm sure your insurance company will be overjoyed to hear your news.

There is no substitute for a proper gas installation.
 
Of course, being portable it falls outside the boat safety scheme requirements..which is why I have heard rumours of folk ripping out their built in gas cookers etc on the broads and putting the little portable ones in...thereby not having to construct gas lockers etc into older boats.

Don't you just love the unforeseen effect of regulations.

I've seen cartridge gas heaters on the market for £13 or so. I have a portable camping cooker version, and its very good,even though the gas cartridges don't last all that long. On board I have the Origo.

Just use it sensibly and you will be fine. Read The Instructions (as they say.)

you get a lovely breeze at 30k /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

the arms fold around so it sits at about 45 degrees with no flame.The cylinders cost afiver and last 7 hours
