Gas explosion Southdock Marina

Asleep on the boat at around 1.00 am on Saturday morning at Southdock Marina when swmbo and I both woke up hearing some kind of loud bang or explosion.
The sound came through the air and the water.

Popped the hatch and had a look around saw no sign of anything -- no flames, no shouting . Turned on radio to see if someone had tried to blow up Canary wharf . Nothing, so after a while went back to sleep.

This morning I was chatting with someone else at teh marina who said that someone boat had blown up -- gas explosion. Does anyone else know what happened?

Yep, I believe a houseboat in South Dock suffered an explosion, initially thought by the Fire bods to be from a gas leak. Two people on board - both seriously injured.

I hadn't realised people had been hurt.

Hope that they both pull through.

In the past I have bitched and moaned about the boat safety scheme, except for the gas/petrol part. This I guess could be justification for it...

Vindicates my decision to get rid oof gas and go with parafin -- lighting is a pain, but any spills are easy to spot and clean up and it doesn't go bang.
