My boat’s cooker has been sitting unused for a couple of years whilst my dad lived on it and didn’t use it.

I’m trying to get the boat back to normal working condition.

I can get the oven to fire up but I cannot get of the 4 burners to work.

My intention is to replace the cooker but I’m wondering if there’s an obvious problem I am missing ?

Thanks kindly in advance.

Do none of the 4 burners work. I would try removing the top of each burner and cleaning any crudd or rust away. I presume you have tried lighting it with a taper and not jus the auto ignition.

The burner has a few significant parts:
The valve constrol the gas
A jet with a small hole
The metal bit where the flames are. This sits above the jet and has several holes where the gas/air mix gets burned.
On my cooker, I had to clean rust and stuff out of the holes to make the burner work.

Most boat cookers have 'flame failure' devices so you have to hold the knob in to light the burner, if the burner is cold it shuts off the gas otherwise.

All 4 do not work so could be blocked. I have tried scraping and hoovering crud out. Should I unscrew that bolt in the middle?

I guess I need to clean the holes maybe but struggling to tell where they are. Anyone able to point on this photo which didn’t seem to attach to my first post….

central brass bit with small hole is jet.
White ceramic bit is ignitor.
Thing sticking up to the left of that is flame failure sensor which shuts off gas to unlit burner.

You should hear it hiss when gas is coming out.
If so, check loose black bit is clean underneath and correctly placed.
