Gas bottle locker

I must be in the wrong job, "Campingaz Twin Gas Cylinder Locker Box" £209; for a five sided box! I feel a Victor Meldrew moment coming on!

I tend to agree for a box without a lid! The problem with gas lockers is that to produce them to a specification acceptable to the BSS, they must be fire resistant, gas tight and drain overboard. If you don't meet these criteria - which are not mandatory for a sea-going vessel - then you will not have much of a market. Put simply, each box needs to be a one-off to fit the customer's boat. Mind you, a GRP box to screw a few instruments onto seems to cost the same!

Hi Rob

The single 4.5 Kg Butane gas bottle box that Ken mentions to does come with a lid.:) and is made from fire retardent GRP, but £219:mad:.

I totaly agree about prices, BUT, like most boats I do not have a lot of choices of where I can put a box AND you can bet your life the insurance company will pick up on it if not installed correctly.

Also found some here http://www.plastimo.com/ecatalogue/2012/gb/catalogue/appli.htm the 5Kg box is £155

Thanks all so far for the help
Mike
