Has anyone got one of the new Garmin 'touchscreen' chartplotters. I saw them at the LIBS and was well impressed. Moreover they do a really small 8' screen which would be better at the binnicle rather than the large Raymarine E80. I dont really like cluttering up the wheel area with loads of bulky instruments and my eyes are to shot to have the chartplotter further away. To date I have always had Raymarine gear but the Garmin would fit better, and is slightly cheaper.

Any views?

cheers,

Think you'd need to ask about how well the touch screen works with cold wet gloved hands. It's a very small screen (only 5" high), and it might be frustrating if you keep hitting the wrong virtual buttons. On the larger screen versions, it'd probably be OK.
