Garmin support for a GPS65

Garmin's online support only accepts queries about current products (bless them). Of course I want to ask about an obsolete product. I have a GPS65 Personal Navigator which is still working fine, but I need to check the GPS65 NMEA 0183 version. The manual does not say what version the GPS65 suppports, so I am wondering if it is version 1?

I want to use it as a GPS feed to a Standard Horizon GX2100 VHF/AIS - but that only accepts a minimum of NMEA0183 v2.

Any ideas on how to check this? (apart from buying the the GX2100 and hoping it works)

The downloaded manual I've got says specifically NMEA 0183 v1.5, December 1987.
Also 0180 and 0182.
Edit; Just read a bit further. There's also support for RTCM SC-104 version 2, Jan 1990.
Is that the forerunner of NMEA 0183 version 2.0 or something completely different?
