Any advice is most welcome here.
The system has been faultless since fitted 6 seasons ago and is lightly used.
Class B pump.
Hugely oversized for my sailboat but that hasn't been a problem,
Press the engage button and it's working fine with the SYSTEM ENGAGED warning
Press the STB button and the warning says YOU HAVE THE HELM which is a lie sometimes.
Sometimes, more often now, the system carries on steering and there is no control of the helm.
This could happen under the bows of an oncoming freighter so I cannot use it now.
I cannot find a Garmin engineer. I'm happy to change any component but I don't know where to start.
Is it electrical? (unlikely because I've cut the power to the system and it won't let go)
Is it mechanical?
There are two control heads, helm, and chart table (neither has control when it goes faulty
No pinched pipes, clean oil.
I'd be happy to put a manual bypass in the line if I only knew how?
Any comments are welcome.
