Garmin software update

Has anybody installed a software revision to their Garmin GPS unit?

Am a little aprehensive about the comment "if attempts to upload software fail you may need to return the unit to Garmin for service"

I updated a Garmin II Plus, several years ago. I followed the instructions carefully regarding not interupting the download and not running any other programs on the PC. I had no problems whatsoever.

Make sure there is plenty of life left in the GPS batteries, as I recall that was one of the most common reasons for failing.

I've done my GPSMAP76 a number of times with no trouble. Just don't disrupt the process at any stage.

BTW having used a number of GPSs over the years the MAP76 is by far the best handheld unit yet. I use it for bushwalking as well as sailing and it's been excellent for both.

maybee not what you are looking for but I have had to send things back to Garmin (Europe) a couple of times in the last year - not their fault I hasten to add - and have had fantastic fast service both times. Faultless.
So if you do experience a problem it really isn't the issue it might be........good luck

Thankyou all for your input

Will give it ago when I am next out there.

Am awaiting a reply from garmin as to which down load to use as the download button leads to a different file than the file size link ( a 128 by the way).
