I tried to get hold of Garmin (Europe) this afternoon for a technical query. After trying on and off for three hours I finally gave up having been looped several and many times by their telephone system. It appears they are quite happy to sell me product but not prepared to back it up with some good old service. Guess I'll buy a Magellan next time...

strange.

It's not a huge department and may be suffering from a combination of holidays sickness and a lot of boaters with queries - being an August Monday......

However if this is the case there should be a human somewhere in the organisation explaining that to callers!

It's been a pain of late. However, Garmin have said that everybody's gone mad and buying lots of Sat Nav gear - apparently the latest must have in your car - so they've been inundated.

They have staffed up and the new experts will be coming on line RSN - it is said.

Try early in the morning, just after lunch or after 5.

I get through in the end, but I think just hanging on is not very profitable.

BTW what sort of support do you get from Magellan??

Only once in the last 10 years have I have had a problem with one of the four garmin units I have had. I visited their premises in Romsey and the problem was fixed whilst I waited, at no cost even though out of guarentee. An Excellent service.
