I am locking for a small combined plotter/sonar device to aid diving trips to gps locations.
The plotter to take me to the co-ordinates, but once there the divers will require a good imaging depth sonar so they can actually see when we above the wreck or such.
split screen springs to mind

Had a quick look at Garmins website the GPSMAP551s seems to fit the bill

What does the panel think?

I have the 555s with forward looking sonar on the centre console boat. Never let me down even in the heat of summer.

I prefer them to Raymarine...

We are also considering a 551s or S.H.180 to replace the original sounder. Plotter function will be a backup for our "big" Simrad. Current sounder only works when it feels like it and anyway a Fishfinder display is far more informative.
I also would be interested in other's thoughts re. what to buy.
