Just spent two days checking and double checking wiring, reading and rereading manual, cursing and kicking the dog, cat and SWMBO:eek:

No way could I get any NMEA handshake.

Hidden in the depths of the Garmin website bottom line says it all.....grrrrr:(

I have Oregon and am jealous the Montana looked much nicer and more user friendly.

They do constantly update software which can be good and bad as you get some new features and occasionally faults:

I found the sister site to this:
http://garminmontana.wikispaces.com/Software+Versions

really help full for my Oregon.

If you have any charting issues I might be able to help PM me, I will explain what happened with mine...

You can get FREE LEGAL OS maps for some areas also, again PM me.

I hope you are as pleased with yours as I am with mine...
