Just updated my Satnav so whilst not exactly boaty, I've got quite a bit of Garmin kit on board and will think twice before chosing any replacements. My Satnav had all of Europe included when bought earlier this year. Only after paying for the update and uploading their "Download Manager" which took three attempts ( they are trying to fix the problem ) did their website inform that the update would mean my Satnav would only cover the British Isles. ( Or any one European country ). Also pre VAT change the price was £59.99 and guess what, post VAT 15% it is still £59.99 and to add insult to injury, they took £60 from my card. With this sort of attitude, my Garmin 152 B&W will not be replaced by a Garmin colour plotter. I've satrted to look at Furuno and Raymarine. Happy New Year Garmin.

i Have a quick word with Trading Standards. I think that problems with their site has resulted in you getting the wrong download. If you contract with the supplier included European maps, then the upgrades should include the same data files, so ejnce the product is "not fit for purpose"
You might also like to write to the MD of Garmin Europe, with a very humble letter saying how pleased you are with the 152, and on the basis of that you bought Garmin Satnav for the car etc and you have been sold a pup, and hopefully you will get a new unit worth more than you paid for!

Worth a stamp, but only second class

Not surprised. They ditched a whole family of relatively new chartplotters, not only refusing to issue updates but recalling all the stocks of map chips from retailers and incinerating them, just to try and force us all to buy new machines. Hence my Garmin GPSMAP has no chart. Hence also the reason I then bought Lowrance and won't touch Garmin.
