One of my other projects is to connect my oldish ICOM DSC VHF (pre NMEA2000) to my new Garmin Chartplotter (95SV).

The garmin outputs in both NMEA2000 and NMEA0183 but it is now 5 metres away from the VHF. The connection for the VHF just needs to be NEMA+ NMEA- Anyone managed to DIY this using just an audio cable wired up to a garmin plug or similar?

Regards,
Allister

You don't need a Garmin plug, it's just 2 bare wires for NMEA 0183 out, in the power cable.

Just done mine all working. Garmin echomap 95sv to a Mtech 500 . Had to just extend the NMEA pair of wires. Though works fine with just the one NMEA out connected to Radio NMEA in .
