Although Stargazer has a fixed GPS at the chart table, the previous owner connected the cockpit repeater (NASA Clipper) to a Garmin HH GPS.
We've got a Garmin 72 HH unit, which I've tried to connect to the repeater. The cable is a standard Garmin power/data unit, which obviously fits the 72 OK. The HH unit is drawing power through the cable (it tells me so when I disconnect it!), but the repeater is displaying "No GPS signal". I've checked the connections behind the control panel, and as far as I can tell, they seem OK. The other suggestion in the Repeater manual is that "The GPS Receiver is not set up to send NMEA version 2 (or higher ) at 4800 baud"
How can I tell this? (it doesn't seem to be in the Garmin handbook) Is it a setting on the GPS 72 that can be altered? Or is there some other likely explanation?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but this is terra incognita for me...
