Seeing as Amazon have just reduced their range of Garmin handheld GPS's, I thought I might buy one.

I know the eTrex 10 is out of date now but for £60 surely its a handy device to have onboard.

Anyone who has this I also dinghy sail/race and lots of competitors wear the Garmin wrist watch, I was wondering if I could just put this in the front pocket of my spray cag and leave it on will it record the same information for me.

Fastest time, and gps positioning, what speed at what times once loaded onto the computer and an overall distance travelled...?

Thank You

I think it will capture all that information, but I don't think it will download it into a connected computer - you will probably have to transcribe that sort of information manually. My Garmin eTrex Vista just gives the ability to transfer tracks, routes and waypoints to and from the connected PC.

i bought the garmin 78s but had to buy an extra card costing half as much again to get anything approaching a chartplotters information.was not all that impressed after adding the prices together. All by Garmin
