Hi there,
My Garmin 2010c chartplotter started loosing position half way across the Atlantic on our way to Barbados. The antenna is an old Garmin 17n.
It will show some satellites being visible on start up, and will occasionally fix a position, but after 30 secs to a minute the satellites start dropping away and it then says 'no satellite info available'.
I've checked the continuity from the antenna input in the nmea junction box to the end of the plotter cable and it seems fine (although I confess that the wiring inside the nmea box remains somewhat of a mystery to me). So I assume its an issue with either the antenna and/or its cable or the plotter itself.
If anyone has any ideas about further diagnostics I could do, or has had and solved a similar problem I would appreciate any input before I go out spending money that I don't have replacing things that aren't broken.
Cheers,
Seb
