Garmin GPSMap 176c issue

... New batteries installed, press the power light and get a reaction like it is trying to power up but no change to the black screen. Any ideas?

Update -dont know how, but the screen now powers up but nothing can be seen, after clicking on enter to accept the license agreement (cant see it though). I have played with brightness and contrast but no joy.

Stupid - but definitely confirmed the new batteries are good???

Not daft it seems ... Bought brand new, no promotion (2 for 1 etc) involved .. From the big Co-op ..full feckin price and the best before date is March 2013 - 2 and a half bloody years ago! Jeez!

Correction - better eyes than mine have seen that the year is 2018 not 2013. Sorry Mr drug taking dodgy former Co-Op Chairman ...

Called Garmin, they tried to be helpful but it is an old piece of kit that will now need an honourable burial ...
