Garmin GPSmap 172 - panel mount

My little motor sailer came with a GPSMap 172 and a Fishfinder 120, both on brackets. In the process of rebuilding I am making a new instrument panel and intend mounting both of them within it. The only means of holding them down in both cases seems to be four tiny captive nuts in the back of the screen surround. Can anyone please confirm that this is the intention, and advise the size of the bolts?

I've just panel mounted a Raymarine VHF, which was on a bracket. The Raymarine kit for panel mounting was little more than a couple of bits of metal, and they wanted £30 for it..

So I made some plywood "T" pieces, that mounted between the hole the bracket thumbwheel used, and the back of the panel, I used some bolts in place of the thumbwheels, and the thing is held nice and rigidly in place.

The flush mounting instructions are in the owners manuals, they are available on line at the Garmin website in the "support" section ( certainly the US one, not sure about the UK one). As well as a permanent flush mounting, there's a kit that allows the 172 and 120 to be easily removeable.

From memory, Garmin supply studs that screw into those threaded inserts, rather than using bolts, they're something like an M3.

Thanks for that, it never occurred to me that the manuals would (a) still be available and (b) would contain that information. The GPS manual says they are 3 mm studs, the Fishfinder manual says they are 4 mm but both look the same to me and measure 3 mm. Studding and nuts ordered from Ebay. Thanks for your help.
