My NTM Garmin GPS76 ( bought off a fellow forumite) won't interface with my yeoman. The wiring is correct. When I go to the Garmin interface menu the only option listed is Garmin. No NMEA option or even any others listed at all. The manual gives a whole list of selectable options... I've only got Garmin. Any ideas?

Is yours the basic gps76 or the map version. If the former, I used the output to connect to a doc radio with no problem. Look up in the manual the correct colours for nmea out from the ps and 'in' for the yeoman. Afaik you can't damage either if you get it wrong. You may have to set the baud rate on both devices.

I'm sure the wiring is correct. The problem is that the 76 is not outputting compatible data. There is no other options listed under interface than 'Garmin'.

On the "Interface" tab in setup, when you press Enter on the Serial Data Format field, it should list the various formats. If it doesn't, then either it's broken in some wierd and unheard of way, or you're doing it wrong

If you select 'setup' from the main menu then 'interface' then 'serial data format' 'enter' mine gives various formats. Scroll down to 'nmea', 'enter' scroll back up to 'interface' and quit. The baud rate is not selectable but fixed at 4800. Check the baud rate on your yeoman is set to the same. If it's not selectable, that could be the problem.

Sorted, you guys were right it was a human interface functionality issue... I was doing it wrong . When I clicked enter on the Garmin menu item the sub menu appeared and nmea was there after all. Thanks for the help, sorry I'm a doofus!
