I have connected these up as per both manuals and I am getting repeated Lat long and waypoint displays ok.

On road trial this AM noticed sog varied between 0 and 150 knots.

Now I know it was windy but ..... SOG is balls.

Before some smart Alec says RTFMs....

I have and I need help as I am now so in touch with my feminine side I am thinking about cross dressing.:o

Repeater needs RMA RMC and GSA sentences and I think it is probably missing the latter.

I assumed the 72 HH automatically gave all these.

If not where is the switch?

Forum help required before a full on attack of PMT with me screaming at everybody for no apparent reason.:D

PS
72HH worked fine with Yeoman but I assume that old smoke driven thing uses different sentence to give SOG.

Memory dredge going on coz I did something like that on the old boat, but with a Garmin 48 hand held. Seem to remember I had to go into the Garmin menus and change the default output from something, to something else. Can't remember what though.

I have found the answer By RTFM again..

You were right on the button Ken

For anybody who may have the same problem in the future:

Default ouput is Garmin which you change to NMEA

But then there is a less obvious second level of setting once you have selected NMEA output you can go in deeper on the 72 by scrolling down, selecting NMEA and pressing menu you get an option to display additional sentences including GSA.

I am still going to have to get used to repeater saying I am left of track and GPS saying I am right as one is showing direction to desired track and other is showing position relative to desired track.

Will have to go through it all over again soon as I have just been told I can have a new Montana as long as she can have it for the car...:D
